Pool

As a child, I loved the water. In fact, I still do. My mother would always take me to Reeds Gap State park as a child, to go to the pool in the summer. I would have my one piece and always, always a pair of goggles. I hated to get water in my nose so much.
I loved the underwater world. All sounds muted, clunking of people hitting the side of the pool or throwing coins in to dive after. I loved how beautiful the light looked when you sunk to the bottom and looked up. Sparkling and glimmering like shining glass shards.

The childhood wonder world of that pool has since been torn out, ripped away till there was nothing there but a grassy expanse. Like the little world I grew up loving to be in was never there.
